Your Weekly Insights, Explained

Insights is the dedicated tab in Hoot's bottom navigation that gives you a weekly recap of your nutrition. It opens to the current week by default. Tap the chevrons to scroll back through past weeks.

What you'll see

  • Week Progress. A row of seven day pills (Monday through Sunday). Each pill shows a semicircular arc with the percentage of your calorie goal you hit that day.
  • Summary Cards. Two large stat cards: your average calories and your average Nutrition Score for the week. Each one has a range meter so you can see where you landed.
  • Status Card. A short coach-tone message that reads your week's data and translates it into one sentence. Things like "Looking great this week," "Trending under," or "Day one in the books." Plus a "Full week logged" badge if you hit all seven days.
  • Macro Balance. How your week's calories broke down across protein, carbs, and fat.
  • Per-macro Trends. A swipeable carousel of bar graphs for protein, carbs, and fat. Optional nutrients you track (fiber, sugar, saturated fat, sodium, cholesterol) show up here too.

How the Status Card works

The Status Card is rule-based, not AI-generated. That means it's fast, predictable, and won't make things up. It's smart about a few things:

  • It knows your goal direction. If you're trying to lose weight, eating under your target isn't flagged as a problem.
  • It eases in. Before three days are logged, you'll see "early days" copy instead of a full readout.
  • It rewards consistency. Big week-over-week wins in score or calorie consistency trigger congratulatory messaging.
  • It cares about protein and fiber. When you're averaging at least 90% of your target, it'll call that out.

The phrasing rotates slightly week to week so it stays fresh.

Untracked days don't drag you down

Days with zero calories logged are excluded from your averages. They won't quietly tank your numbers. If you missed days, you'll see a small "X days untracked" badge instead.

Free vs. Hoot+

Free users can open the Insights tab and see the daily progress arcs. The Macro Balance, per-macro trends, and full Status Card are blurred behind a Hoot+ paywall. The full Insights experience is part of Hoot+.
